With the new airport opening in 2019 there will be a huge amount of new information rolling out over the coming months. We will endeavour to ensure our site has the most up to date information available. In the meantime, we know there are many unanswered questions in regards to the airport facilities, flight destinations and much more. Please check some of our top frequently asked questions below.
I would like a job at the airport. How can I apply?
The Spanish airport operator AENA will be responsible for the management of Corvera airport when it opens in 2019. As of 2017 AENA had said that all employees at San Javier would retain their jobs at the new airport when the changeover is complete.
As the new airport will be much bigger, dealing with higher passenger numbers and covering more concessions and facilities, there will be an expected increase in staff also required. There are a number of auxiliary companies that currently operate from San Javier airport and the same will be the case for Corvera airport.
To find out about employment opportunities at Corvera airport you need to get in touch with either AENA or any of the auxiliary companies that will be based there. The AENA employment website can be found here.
Where will the planes fly over when coming in and out of the new airport?
Until all flight operators and routes are announced we won’t know the flight paths that they will take. As soon as this information comes available, we will update our site.
I live on the coast – how will I get to Corvera?
Corvera airport is likely to be an approximate 30 min drive from the San Javier airport.
What UK airports will fly into Corvera?
So far EasyJet and Jet2 have confirmed certain routes in and out of the UK so we currently know that there will be flights into Corvera from: Gatwick, Bristol and Southend.
Over the coming months we expect to hear of lots more confirmed destinations from Ryanair, British Airways, Norwegian Air and others.
I have a flight to Murcia in 2019 but if San Javier closes, where will I be flying in to?
It is widely expected that all existing flight operators at San Javier airport will move to Corvera airport. This means that if you already have a flight booked you are likely to be landing at Corvera airport sometime early next year. For example, if you have booked with EasyJet to fly Murcia in February 2019, you are likely to be heading into the new airport at Corvera.
