Martin Sixt started the company, “Sixt Autofahrten und Selbstfahrer” (“Sixt Car Cruises and Self Drivers”), in 1912 before Germany even had a proper road network. Believing in the future of the idea, in 1917 he purchased a location in Munich, where one of the company’s most popular branches is still operating today.
Ten years later, he handed over the company to his nephew Hans Sixt, and in 1951 — after all Sixt vehicles were confiscated by the Germans army during World War II (except for a Mercedes 230 Landaulet) — he founded Sixt Car Rental, taking advantage of innovations such as the first radio-taxis in Europe. The first branches at airports in Frankfurt am Main and Munich opened a few years later.
Erich Sixt, the current chairman, was the third-generation family member to join the business and, with his wife Regine, expanded its presence at all German airports, introduced rental automates (Sixt Express), and began offering clients vans and trucks as well as rental cars.
In 1991, Sixt initiated its international expansion, and today it operates worldwide in more than 100 countries, including Spain (and Corvera Airport Murcia).

Sixt at CorveraThe Sixt branch is located in the parking area, just in front of the terminal building. When returning your vehicle, follow the signs to the car rental parking and park in the Sixt parking lots. You can give the key to one of their rental agents or drop it off in the 24-hour keybox.

Remember to always bring your driver’s licence, a valid credit card and additional proof of identity (such as a passport if you are renting abroad).
