The Terminal
Stansted Airport offers flights to more that 170 destinations in Europe, Africa and Asia, and has the largest number of scheduled European destinations of all UK airports.
Stansted has one main passenger terminal and three passenger satellites, where the departure gates are located. One of the satellites is connected by an air bridge and the other two by the terminal’s transit system.
The terminal features a “floating” roof constructed with inverted pyramids and pillars, providing indirect illumination and set out on one level.
From 1997 to 2007 Stansted expanded rapidly, in terms of passenger numbers, and in 2016 the airport recorded 24.3 million passengers. These numbers have been rising ever since.
