The airline was originally called Thomson Tour Operators, formed in 1965 through the amalgamation by Roy Thomson of tour operators Skytours, Riviera, Luxitours, and Gaytours with Britannia Airways.
Thomson Holidays was formed in 1997 and became a leading player in the package holiday industry, making historic headlines when it advertised three and four-night holidays in Mallorca for only £19, creating a new market for budget winter-sun vacations.
The Tui group offers package holidays, cruises and hotels, and manages over 1,600 travel agencies.
Thomson Holidays started trading as TUI UK on 18 October 2007 and now has a network of more than 180 routes from 100 airports.
