Tourists planning a visit to Murcia will be able to take advantage of increased seasonal flight connections from this month.
According to the regional ministry of tourism, the “summer” season – which officially starts the last weekend in March and continues until the end of October – will offer Corvera Airport Murcia passengers connections with 22 destinations in six countries: the U.K., Ireland, Belgium, Portugal and Morocco, as well as national routes in Spain. Information is also pending about potential charter flights available from the Czech Republic (Ostrava and/or Prague).
While most international tourists tend to head to popular resorts along the Costa Cálida, such as Ágilas, Cartagena, La Manga and Mazarrón, this year many are also expected to take the time to explore Murcia after the city was named by The Telegraph as one of the “alluring Spanish cities that haven’t been discovered by mass tourism”.
The newspaper described Murcia as “a Mediterranean jewel (and a vegetarian’s dream). In a protein-loving country, Murcia stands out for its love of vegetables, sourced from the farmland surrounding the city… Don’t follow the herd to Barcelona or Sevilla – Spain has many other wonderful cities to discover.” (Other cities on the top 12 list were Salamanca, Zaragoza, Jaén, Alicante, La Coruña, Jerez, Logroño, Girona, León and Mérida.)
