Regional authorities have announced plans to provide a new bus connection linking Corvera Airport Murcia with key resort areas along the Mar Menor coastline.
The news follows the announcement earlier this summer that tourists arriving at Corvera Airport Murcia can now travel directly to Cartagena by bus.
According to the regional ministry of mobility, the public transport system Movibus will include a new connection between the San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Los Alcázares and Torre Pacheco municipalities and Corvera Airport Murcia, involving a total of 3,285 journeys per year. This route number 9 is part of the second phase of development of a new inte-rurban public transport system in the Murcia region.
Also planned is a more direct new route between Murcia city and La Unión, Torre Pacheco, Los Urrutias, Dolores de Pacheco, Roldán and Balsicas, while this summer a direct service is being incorporated into the system to connect Los Alcázares and Murcia.
The first Movibus phase launched last December included new services in the Murcia and Cartagena metropolitan areas.
Announcing the new services, the regional government’s director general for mobility and the coastal area, Marina Munuera, said, “We are completing a new round of contacts in order to finalise the details and… carry out a transformation of our services and convert public transport into a solid alternative to private vehicles.”
