Volotea, a low cost airline based in Barcelona, has announced that the company will be operating a twice weekly route to and from the airport of Asturias in northern Spain. The new route will be put into place in May next year but of course, holidaymakers will be able to book their flights in advance! Volotea has also confirmed that there will be a total of 8500 seats available, and that the flights will be taking place next year on both Mondays and Tuesdays.
Volotea are one of the seven airlines that were recently confirmed to be operating from Corvera Airport when it opens next year on January the 15th. This includes Jet2, Easyjet, TUI, Fly Belgium, Ryanair, Norwegian and Aerlingus. Both Volotea, Aerlingus and Norwegian were recently announced after a recent meeting from the board of directors at Aena, with Ryanair being confirmed after much speculation.
The announcement from Volotea also coincides with a recent confirmation that tourism authorities across Murcia are attempting to promose the major Asturias cities of Gijon and Oviedo. With a base in Asturias airport, Volotea will easily be able to provide flights to and from the area.
