Aena, the management company at Corvera Airport recently announced that it has put out to tender the new contracts for security and cleaning services. These contracts will be awarded for the next two years, and will be filled before the expected opening date of January 15th 2019.
The new contracts will be put into place at Mucia San Javier airport, later moving to the new terminal building before the opening of Corvera Airport. Once Corvera Airport is open, domestic flights and other operations from San Javier will be moved to Corvera Airport.
In a press release, Aena emphasised that putting out the contracts in this way would protect the rights of employees resulting from the ancillary service contracts when the transfer to Corvera airport takes place.
The budget for security services has been listed as €3.074,543. The contract for cleaning has been at as €520,524 for the first year, as well as €30,000 for the initial cleaning operation before the airport opens. The services proposed include sterilising aircraft interiors before take-off.
This announcement follows a successful trend of business contracts and development plans put into place over the past several months by Aena ahead of the opening date of Corvera Airport. This includes contracts for shops and facilities, as well as other service contracts which are expected to result in a significant rise in employment across the local area.
