Ryanair has inaugurated its new route between Corvera Airport Murcia and Marrakech in Morocco. The first flight was last week, marking the start of Ryanair’s summer schedule covering nine routes in all: Birmingham, Bournemouth, Dublin, East Midlands, Glasgow Prestwick, London Luton, London Stansted and Manchester – in addition to Marrakech.
The new Moroccan service includes at least two return flights per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, scheduled to continue until October.
Passengers on the inaugural flight were presented with welcome gifts at Corvera Airport Murcia, during a ceremony presided over by: Elena Cabrera, Ryanair’s country manager for Spain; Sanaah Merouah, Moroccan consul general in the Murcia region; Carmen Conesa, regional minister for tourism, culture, youth and sport; Juan Francisco Martínez, general manager of the Murcia Tourism Institute (ITREM); and Antonio José Perez, Aena operations manager at the Aeropuerto Internacional Región de Murcia (as the airport is officially known).
“As Murcia’s number one airline,” said Cabrera, “Ryanair is delighted to have operated the first flight on our new summer route. Marrakech, also known as the ‘Red City’, is famous for its rich history, lively souks, stunning architecture and lively atmosphere, making it the perfect city for a summer getaway.”
